VISITING VETERANS – HONORING THE HISTORY AND THE DEVOTED GENERATION OF THE NATION

On the eve of the sacred and fateful celebration of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, a group of staff members from Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, with the initiative and direct support of the University Rector, the Department of Educational Affairs, and the Employees’ Trade Union, visited veteran professors of the University who have many years of service and experience at the institution. This initiative, carried out as part of the festive events dedicated to the 34th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan, is primarily aimed at honoring the efforts and lasting contributions of those who, over the years, have educated younger generations and made a valuable contribution to the development of the country’s healthcare system.

The group of staff members — including members of the University Administration such as the vice-rector for academic and methodological affairs, the vice-rector for student affairs, the vice-rector for administrative and economic affairs, the deans of the medical, dental, and pharmaceutical faculties, as well as heads of departments and staff from the student affairs office — visited the homes of veteran educators Mirzo Nazarov, Ekaterina Dadabayeva, Zebo Burhonova, and Sattor Subhonov, and held heartfelt conversations with them. During these meetings, rare historical recollections, eyewitness accounts of the founding, development, and growth of various university centers and facilities were shared by these pioneering individuals.

In their conversations, the veteran professors recalled that in the early years, they began their work with local personnel and limited resources, yet served with love and dedication to their profession along the challenging path of teaching and learning. They proudly stated that today, the university has become one of the most prestigious scientific and educational institutions in the region.

Each veteran visited was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a monetary gift by the University’s Employees’ Trade Union Committee as a holiday token of appreciation. This symbolic gesture was a sign of respect for their many years of hard work and dedication, and it brought them great joy and happiness.

With hearts full of gratitude, the veterans expressed their appreciation to the University leadership and young faculty members for preserving the memories and living history of the University. They emphasized that such initiatives should become a tradition, as they strengthen intergenerational ties and reinforce respect for teachers and national-cultural values.

In conclusion, such patriotic and humanitarian initiatives are a clear reflection of the University’s well-established culture and help instill in the younger generation a sense of pride and responsibility toward both the past and the future. Avicenna Tajik State Medical University will continue to expand such efforts as part of its mission to promote moral and patriotic education among faculty and students.
