December 17^th, 2022, 3^rd  year students, group 45 of medical faculty and the assistant of propaedeutics of children’s diseases department of SEI "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" F.S. Murodova visited the SI "Regional Center of Social Services for Pensioners and Disabled People" in Dushanbe city.                             

In the 21st century, nursing homes have become the standard form of care for most elderly and disabled people. Almost 6% of the elderly are in residential care facilities, which provide a wide range of services. Nursing homes have a long history, as needy elderly people have existed throughout history. Nowadays, in many countries, a nursing home is one of the most important forms of long-term residential care for the elderly. Nursing homes, as well as residential homes, make it possible to have the necessary care, attention, decent accommodation, a comprehensive and balanced diet, an interesting social circle for the person.

In the State Institution "Regional Center of Social Services for Retirees and Disabled Persons" of Dushanbe city, where are living  94 elderly people, including 35 women, 30 men and 39 disabled persons. Our students filled them with a festive New Year's atmosphere, recited poems, sang songs, danced, showed satirical sketches, then served them a festive dastarkhan and received good wishes and instructions from them. The initiative of our students shows the younger generation how important compassion, selfless love for the elderly and disabled, kindness and responsibility are nowadays.
