THE WORLD AND WATER-RELATED PROBLEMS. 2 billion people have no access to clean drinking water at all

3 billion and 600 million people in the world do not have access to clean water and sanitation. This is reported by AMIT Khovar with reference to the information of the official website of the UN.

The number of people without access to water in cities is increasing. Experts estimate that the population of the world's cities without access to water will increase from 930 million in 2016 to 1.7-2.4 billion in 2050.

As of March 2023, 2 billion people in the world do not have access to clean drinking water at all.

According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's "Oceans and the Cryosphere" report (2019), one-third of the world's glaciers could disappear by the end of this century.

The Founder of peace and national unity - Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Honorable Emomali Rahmon, at the Second High Level International Conference on the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development" 2018-2028 in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, which was held in Dushanbe in 2022, stressed that some 2 billion people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water networks.

According to the nation's Leader Emomali Rahmon, the international community has not yet taken the necessary measures to reduce the effects of climate change and adapt to it.

"Naturally, during this period, all countries of the world have directed all means and capabilities to combat this crisis," the head of state said. "However, we must not forget that the issue of water, due to its particular importance, must always remain a priority."

According to experts' estimates, by 2050 the world population will probably reach 9 billion people, which will certainly increase the need for water several times over.

At the same time, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the esteemed Emomali Rahmon, stressed that overall efforts have not yet yielded the desired results, as evidenced by the following figures

- More than 3.5 billion people do not have access to necessary medical services and almost 2.3 billion people do not have access to basic hygienic conditions;

- nearly half a million people die each year from water-related infectious diseases.

"In this regard, we can say that the process of actual implementation of the set goals and objectives in the direction of access to drinking water and sanitation is not at an appropriate level," said the Head of State.
