On April 24 2024, at the SEI "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" in the framework of the week of science and youth of the Republic of Tajikistan was held the final stage of the competition "The best young ophthalmologist of Dushanbe city 2024", which was organized by the department of ophthalmology of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University together with the clinic of "NIGOH Ophthalmic Surgery" with the purpose of popularization of science and stimulation of further professional growth of young ophthalmologists of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the final stage of the competition 8 young ophthalmologists from different hospitals of Dushanbe city participated. The jury members were the leading ophthalmologists of Dushanbe city.

The opening speech was given to the head of the department of ophthalmology of the State Educational Institution "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University", candidate of medical sciences, associate professor Shamsullo Qurbon Mahmadzoda, where he welcomed the participants and those present in the hall and wished the contest good luck. It was noted that such events contribute to the development and serve as an additional incentive for young ophthalmologists of Dushanbe city.

The competition was held in 4 stages, where there was a very active struggle and interesting questions on various areas of ophthalmology, pharmacology of eye drugs, innovative methods of diagnosis and interesting cases from practice to deal with. It is gratifying that the winner of the competition was the assistant of the department of ophthalmology of the State Educational Institution "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" Haidarov Zarif Botirjonovich. The winner and other active participants of the contest were awarded with certificates and money prizes.

We would like to note that such events serve as a stimulus for development and popularization of science among young specialists in the Republic of Tajikistan.
