IMPLEMENTATION OF THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECT "HARMONY" OF THE ERASMUS+ PROGRAM AT AVICENNA TAJIK STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

The «HARMONEE» Project of the Erasmus+ Program will be implemented at the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University whose goal is to increase knowledge and practice in the filed of public healthcare (including environmental health, labor hygiene and One Health) according with the current need and shortages in Central Asian countries which is funded by European Comission.

Project’s goal:

1. Development of new modules to strengthen interdisciplinary skills needed in public health, such as environmental epidemiology, toxicology, infectious diseases, exposure sciences, occupational health, and risk assessment for masters. It enhances local expertise in programs to control and mitigate regional public health risks through the training of qualified instructors.

2. Building local capacity through teacher training to develop and implement master's programs in public health.

3. Improving the educational and scientific competencies and skills of OM participants in areas related to public health.

4. Promoting and expanding the existing regional and international network in public health.

5. Introduction of an interdisciplinary approach in public health education.

The project is coordinated by the University of Milan, Italy, and the duration of the project includes 36 months, i.e. from 15.01.2021 to 15.01.2024.

Today, on 19.01.2023 in the Administration conference room of Avicenna Tajik State Medical University with participation of foreign guest, who is the partner of ERASMUS+ Project "HARMONEE" and also as a member of University Administration to develop training modules with international standards. At today's meeting the rector of the ATSMU d.m.s., professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali introduced the guests and thanked them for the visit, on the implementation of international cooperation in the field of medicine, including within the framework of the project "HARMONEE" program ERASMUS+, they noted the importance of this cooperation. At today's meeting, the project partner coordinator, including Professor Claudio Colosio from the University of Milan, Italy, Professor K.K. Toguzbaeva from Asfendiyarov National Medical University of Kazakhstan, Akhmedov A. from Bukhara State Medical University Uzbekistan, O. Jamantayev from Karaganda Medical University, Kazakhstan, and professor U. Ghaforova from Khujand State University of the Republic of Tajikistan, higher educational institutions of foreign countries that are partners of the project also joined the online meeting. At today's meeting, professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali awarded professor Claudio Colosio of Milan University of Italy the title of "Honorary Professor" of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University.

The National Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period until 2030 identifies health care as one of the priority areas. That is why the leadership of the state and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the process of ongoing health care reforms attach great importance to improving the availability, quality and effectiveness of medical services to the population, training highly qualified personnel, as well as developing new forms of primary health care, because a healthy nation is the basis of a healthy society.

The Avicenna Tajik State Medical University is considered one of the most prestigious institutions of higher professional education of the Republic of Tajikistan and plays a key role in training highly qualified specialists in health care, development of medical science and strengthening public health.

The University actively cooperates with the departments and other structural units of the University in this area, as well as with international organizations, including the World Health Organization, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, USAID Quality Health Project, German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), Global Fund, Soros Foundation, DAAD, TEMPUS, IAEA, ISTC, UNFPA, Erasmus+, etc. have established good cooperation and implemented useful measures to strengthen international cooperation. Investing in various international projects for the comprehensive development of the University, improving the material and technical base, improving educational programs, faculty and staff professional development in foreign countries, academic exchange of students, development and publication of scientific and educational materials , providing literature and other educational materials and using modern technology.

The goal of the management and teaching staff of the University in the direction of international cooperation is the development of the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan - "Open Door Policy" and constantly strives to strengthen and implement these goals.
