Bobojon Ghafurov is a hero of Tajikistan, a political and statesman, an outstanding historian, a famous Tajik orientalist, doctor of historical sciences, professor, a member of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Tajikistan. Bobojon Ghafurov’s life as a scientific, public and state figure, described in the memoirs of his associates, studies of his scientific activities is an inseparable part of the modern history of the present sovereign Tajikistan. Bobojon Ghafurov was one of the first fighters of the cultural revolution, one of the first organizers of modern science and culture of Tajikistan, one of the largest party and state figures, organizer and one of the first academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan.

His role in the cultural and economic life of the republic is very significant. His contribution to the development of such fields as journalism, historiography and oriental studies is also not insignificant. B. Gafurov left a rich scientific-popular, historical, socio-political heritage, his publicistic works have been published in many magazines, publicistic almanacs, collections, brochures and books in many languages of the peoples of the world. Bobojon Ghafurov is a hero who defended the right of the Tajik people to their own history. This book deals with such important issues as the history of Tajik ancestors, the formation of the Tajik people, the history of the origin and development of its language and culture, and the place of Tajiks in world civilization. Bobojon Gafurov managed to prove that the Tajik people is one of the most ancient Aryan and Central Asian peoples. He made an invaluable contribution to the formation of national consciousness of the Tajik people. In the "Preface" of the book he writes: "The study of the history of the Tajiks, their distinctive contribution to the common treasury of human culture is connected with the study of all the peoples of Central Asia, with the identification of what united them." The closest ties between the two peoples - Tajik and Uzbek - are highlighted in particular detail. The historical ties of the Tajiks and other Central Asian peoples with the peoples of the East are also considered.

According to the President of Tajikistan, in the conditions of globalization and development of information technologies, which leads to the clogging of national culture with alien elements, turning to history, cognition of oneself, is very important and even obligatory for every person, especially teenagers and young people.

In this regard, the Government of the country is instructed to republish the fundamental work of Academician Bobojon Ghafurov "Tajiks" at the expense of the Fund of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and distribute it free of charge as a gift from the Head of State to every family in the country before the celebration of the 30th anniversary of State Independence."
