TAJIKISTAN'S ROLE IN SOLVING ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS AND PREVENTING THEIR CONSEQUENCES
The global initiatives and persistent emphasis on water and climate issues, including the protection of glaciers and freshwater sources, by the Founder of peace and national and unity - Leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, his excellency Emomali Rahmon, have garnered many supporters and like-minded individuals worldwide. These efforts have elevated the importance of this issue in human society.
In recent years, the impact of climate change on planet Earth has complicated the formation, development, and progress of countries worldwide. Effective use, protection, and preservation of water resources are critical issues that the international community must address to prevent further challenges.
Since 2009, the Republic of Tajikistan, under the direct humanitarian efforts of the country's Supreme Leadership, has been actively working to protect water and climate. The initiatives led by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, aimed at improving the quality of drinking water, addressing water and climate issues, and protecting glaciers, have been integrated into the global development agenda, marking significant milestones in human progress. As a result of these efforts, the United Nations has adopted five Tajikistan Resolutions over the past 20 years to address water problems. This is a testament to the high recognition and respect Tajikistan holds and its stable position in the international arena.
The recent initiative by the President of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, to declare 2025 as the International Year of Glacier Protection and March 21 of each year as the International Day of Glacier Protection has received full support from the international community and paves the way to a brighter future for the planet.
Based on this Resolution, an international target fund for the protection of glaciers will be established within the framework of the United Nations, and a high-level United Nations conference on this topic will be held in Dushanbe in 2025. The adoption of this Resolution is an important and historic step on a global scale, providing the international community with the opportunity to take necessary joint measures to protect the largest sources of drinking water. The successive actions of the Government of the country, under the wise leadership of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, play a significant role in addressing this global issue, which has concerned the world community.
