CELEBRATION OF THE STATE FLAG DAY OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN AT THE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY
November 21st of this year, a solemn meeting commemorating the State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan was held in “Sino” conference hall of the Research Institute of Fundamental Medicine.
The event commenced with an opening address by the vice-rector of the University, doctor of medical sciences, professor Muhabbatzoda Jiyonkhon Qurbon, who extended heartfelt congratulations to the attendees on the occasion of National Flag Day. In his speech, he highlighted that the tradition of flag-raising among the Tajik people is deeply rooted in history, with the symbols of the ancient Tajik nation’s rich heritage now prominently represented in the State Flag of independent Tajikistan.
Taghoyzoda Sumangul Said, Chairman of the Committee on Social Issues, Family, and Health Protection of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, reflected on the historical significance of the Tajik flag during her address. Drawing upon historical sources, she emphasized that this revered symbol has undergone a long and complex journey through the annals of history to reach the present day.
She highlighted that Kovai Ohangar raised his banner, known as the " Dirafshi Kova" to lead his followers into battle. Furthermore, she noted that throughout various pivotal periods, including the conflicts between the Greeks and Persians, the Arab Caliphate, the resistance of the Sogdians against Arab forces, and the military campaigns of the Samanids, Ghaznavids, Mongols, Timurids, and Mangiti, each army carried its own distinct flag.
In conclusion, she extended her congratulations to the professors, teachers, and students of the University on the occasion of the State Flag Day of the Republic of Tajikistan.
Inomzoda Jura, associate professor of the department of family medicine of the University and a participant in the historic 16th Session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, reflected on the poignant moments surrounding the adoption of the National Flag during this pivotal session on November 24, 1992. He emphasized the National Flag as a steadfast symbol and guardian of the foundations of Tajikistan’s state independence.
A vibrant program, presented by the “Shifo” art group, featured performances imbued with patriotic fervor and reverence for the National Flag, adding a dynamic and inspiring dimension to the event.
