Study Seminar: Registration of Inventions via Regional and International Systems
On September 17, 2024, a training seminar titled “Registration of Inventions through Regional and International Systems” was conducted by experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization, the Eurasian Patent Office, and the National Patent and Information Center. The seminar, organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan, opening remarks were made by Rajabzoda Parviz, Deputy Director of the National Patent and Information Center, and Professor Muhabbatzoda J.Q., Vice-Rector for science and innovation.
At the seminar, Nazarov B., Chief Specialist-Expert of the Center, presented on the topic “Registration of Inventions in the National System” Olga Krysanova, Program Manager of the Administrative Services Department of the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) within the International Cooperation Department of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland gave a detailed presentation on “The Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT): Overview, Procedures, and Advantages”. Roberto Perez Gomez, Senior Assistant for Technical Cooperation in the PCT's International Cooperation Department at WIPO discussed “Filing a New Application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty System Using the Docx Format: Submission, Application Management, and Collaboration with Receiving Offices”. Finally, Valentin Yurevych Panko - Chief Specialist-Expert of the Invention Department at the Eurasian Patent Office, provided comprehensive information on “The Eurasian Patent System as a Regional Framework for the Legal Protection of Inventions and Industrial Designs”.
It is important to acknowledge that while SEI "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" has demonstrated notable activity in the field of medical inventions, the inventors and innovators in this domain have not fully utilized scientific resources, particularly the patented technologies of developed countries. This gap exists due to a lack of comprehensive knowledge about the straightforward invention registration systems available abroad.
The primary objective of this seminar is to advance the implementation of the Plan “National Strategy for the Development of Intellectual Property of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030”. This involves enhancing awareness of the concepts and nature of innovations and inventions, as well as industry information, both at the national and international levels.
Participants in the seminar included inventors and innovators from the University, as well as graduate students, PhD candidates, young researchers, and those pursuing academic degrees. The seminar featured discussions where questions were posed to the speakers, and concrete responses were provided.
