SCIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE SERVE AS THE PRIMARY INDICATORS OF A NATION'S AND A STATE'S LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT

A soul devoid of wisdom is lifeless; however, when enriched with knowledge, it is revitalized, much like a barren land that flourishes after receiving rain.

Abu'l-Faraj

“In the current context, science and knowledge serve as the primary indicators of the development level of each state and nation, being intrinsically linked to the advancement of human potential. Recognizing this, we have designated the years 2020-2040 as the Period of Study and Advancement in Natural, Exact, and Mathematical Sciences, mandating that all scientific and educational institutions, as well as the broader social sector, prioritize the study of these disciplines. This initiative aims to secure a prosperous future and foster technical thinking in the younger generation. Achieving this objective necessitates elevating the standards and quality of education, implementing innovative teaching methods, and maximizing the effectiveness of every educational session. Currently, the material and technical infrastructure of educational institutions is being continuously enhanced, and modern technologies have been fully integrated into the education system. These efforts collectively contribute to improving the overall level and quality of education.

Traditionally, each new academic year begins with a lesson dedicated to peace. In essence, this lesson is also one of patriotism and a reflection on historical narratives, all in the pursuit of a prosperous future for our beloved Tajikistan”.

Emomali Rahmon

Knowledge Day is a significant holiday that marks the commencement of the academic year. It is celebrated by schoolchildren, students, educators, and faculty members of higher education and specialized secondary institutions. Observed annually on September 1, Knowledge Day is recognized at the official level.

The uniform commencement of the academic year on September 1 was instituted in 1936 by a decree from the Central Executive Committee of the All-Union Communist Party of Bolsheviks and the USSR Council of People's Commissars. This decree eliminated the previous practice of varying start dates for the academic year and established September 1 as the standardized date for the beginning of classes. The concept of Knowledge Day, as it is traditionally understood, was proposed by the educator Fyodor Bryukhovetsky, who also introduced the idea of the "first bell" as part of the celebration.

Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, Knowledge Day continued to be recognized as an official public holiday in several of the former Soviet states. Globally, September 1 marks the beginning of the school year in 122 countries. In contrast, in 43 countries, the academic year commences on January 1, in 16 countries it begins in March, and in 10 countries, it starts in August.

Education is a treasure; labor is the key to unlocking it.

The state's leadership ensures that all necessary conditions are established to provide every child with the opportunity to learn, develop, and contribute to the advancement of their country. President Emomali Rahmon has urged parents to closely supervise the education and upbringing of their children, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing the creation of conducive environments for scientific learning and education. The Government of the Republic of Tajikistan allocates substantial resources to the advancement of science and education. Each year, the nation's authorities implement various measures to enhance scientific development, such as organizing competitions, producing textbooks, and allocating funds, all of which contribute to the continuous improvement of the educational sector.

“Knowledge is power”. These words of Julius Caesar have guided humanity on the path to understanding the world for centuries, and they encapsulate the very essence of our celebration.
