Science Week and XIX^th scientific and practical conference of young scientists and students of Avicenna Tajik State Medical University with International participation on «Youth and medical innovation: creating the future - today».

Scientific and innovative activity is one of the main criteria for determining the level of growth and development of higher professional institutions. Considering this factor at the SEI "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" increasing the level and quality of scientific work and introduction of the most important achievements of scientists and talented youth into clinical practice are always in the center of attention of the university administration.

The University administration, realizing its responsibility for the implementation of instructions and assignments of the Founder of peace and national unity-Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan his Excellency Emomali Rahmon, resolutions and orders of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.

It should be noted that year by year, the attention of the management and teaching staff of the University is increasingly paid to the research of various areas of medical science, and the number of publications and research papers is increasing due to the gifted young people.

The President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon in his regular Message to Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan dated December 28, 2023 "On the main directions of domestic and foreign policy of the republic" noted that "taking care of youth, solving their problems and proper use of this strategic national reserve for the development and prosperity of the Motherland, ensuring security and stability of the society is one of the main priorities of the Government of the country, as young people make up the majority of the population of Tajikistan".

In accordance with the action plan of "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population and the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Tajikistan from April 25 to May 02 of the current year at the University was held "Science week", including sections of the International Olympiad "Avicenna-24" and the XIX^th scientific-practical conference of young scientists and students of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University on theme - "Youth and medical innovations: creating tomorrow - today".

International Olympiad "Avicenna-24" was dedicated to "Twenty years of study and development of natural, exact and mathematical disciplines in science and education for 2020-2040" and "Day of Tajik science" with the aim of increasing the level and quality of knowledge, practical skills, strengthening the intellectual well-being of students, developing the professional and pedagogical potential of university teachers from April 3 to 20, 2024 with the participation of foreign students. It was attended by 824 students from 27 universities (4 from the republic and 23 from abroad), of which 477 were enrolled online and 347 offline. The Olympiad was held in 2 nominations: medical-theoretical and clinical, which includes 25 subject areas and is conducted in Tajik and Russian languages in 2 rounds: test round and situational questions and final round (practical skills).

More than 700 students participated in the first round and 340 of them qualified for the final round. In the final round, 165 students with good knowledge and skills were awarded prizes, 90 of them through online participation and 75 through offline participation from 18 higher educational institutions (4 national and 14 foreign).

Also within the framework of the Science week on 01.05.2024 was held an Olympiad on dentistry, in which 17 faculty members and 32 students from Samarqand State Medical University, Tashkent State Dental Institute, Bukhoro State Medical University named after Abuali Ibn Sino, Andijon State Medical Institute and 50 students of higher medical schools of the republic took part.

This Olympiad was held in 3 stages, in the first period the participants presented their educational institutions, in the second period the participants were set situational tasks to assess the level of theoretical knowledge, and in the third period to assess their practical skills were conducted practical experiments in phantoms of the dental center of the University, during which domestic and foreign participants demonstrated good knowledge and high practical skills, and the winners were determined by the jury. At the end, the rector of the University, doctor of medical sciences, professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali awarded the winners of the Olympiads with medals and honorary diplomas of the University.

Within the framework of the Science week the University also held intra-university competitions "Master of the Year" and "Young Researcher and Inventor", the winners of these competitions took part in the republican competition "Young researcher and inventor", two master students of the university became winners, took the first places and were awarded diplomas and medals of the 1st degree of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan.

Organization and conducting of Olympiads, competitions and conferences of international level in this Temple of Science has become a tradition and is the evidence of expansion of scientific and practical ties of true heirs of Abuali ibni Sino with the states of near and far abroad and development and expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation.

More than 120 leading scientists and foreign students from the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Azerbaijan took part in the conference "Youth and medical innovations: Creating the future - today" and exchanged views on modern achievements and topical issues of modern medicine.

The purpose of the scientific forum is to create favorable conditions for constructive scientific discussions for young scientists and students, to create free conditions and opportunities for the restoration of friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation with the most advanced educational and medical institutions of far and near abroad and the introduction of achievements of domestic and foreign medicine in medical practice.

At the conference the achievements of young scientists and students of the country and foreign colleagues were presented to a wide range of participants, the issues of fundamental and applied research in medicine, modern technologies and innovations in theoretical and clinical medicine, implementation of the latest scientific achievements in the process of higher medical education were discussed and presented.

The topics of the reviewed reports are diverse and are devoted to the achievements and solved problems of various fields of medicine, including adult and pediatric surgery, pediatrics, internal medicine, cardiovascular surgery, oncology, urology, dentistry, family medicine, neurology, infectious diseases, skin and skin-venereal diseases, theoretical medical disciplines, pharmacy, theoretical non-medical disciplines and others.

The conference was held in plenary session and 16 sections, including plenary session, surgical sections, obstetrics and gynecology, cardiovascular and reconstructive surgery, internal medicine, endocrinology, dermatovenerology and infectious diseases, neurology, pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases, otorhinolaryngology and ophthalmology, family medicine, dentistry, pharmacology and pharmacy, preventive medicine, theoretical medicine, normal physiology, and theoretical non-medical disciplines, chaired by prominent scientists and teachers of the university and other leading domestic and foreign scientific institutions.

It should be noted that every year the number of conference participants and the number of presented articles increases. Thus, this year more than 120 foreign scientists and students took part in international university Olympiads and conferences, 1852 scientific theses were submitted to the conference, 462 of which were from near and far abroad countries. More than 667 scientific theses and reports of scientists and young scientists and students were considered at the conference, 231 of which were from foreign countries, 81 of which were presented online.

The materials of this conference are published in the form of a collection of scientific materials, the electronic version of which will be available to active participants and guests of the conference. At the end of the conference the resolution of the conference was adopted, which will contribute to the introduction of modern achievements of world and domestic scientists in the practice of medical science, the development of health care and health improvement of society.
