Today, 28.07.2023, in the Administration room of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University was held a press conference on the activities of theUniversity in the first half of 2023 with the participation of 64 journalists of mass media. At the press conference, rector of the University d.m.s., professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali presented detailed information on the activities and achievements of the University in the first half of 2023. During the press conference rector of the University d.m.s., professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali noted that: “The Administration and faculty stuff of the University in the first half of 2023 with the understanding of responsibility in fulfillment of the instructions and orders of the Founder of peace and national unity - Leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan respected Emomali Rahmon in connection with improving the level and quality of education and training in higher educational institutions of the country, which were voiced during his messages and speeches at meetings with teachers and students of higher professional educational institutions and medical workers, also in order to implement instructions of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan and Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan actively have worked decision of scientists Council and Administration of the University”.

Avicenna Tajik State Medical University educates and trains professionals in 5 specialties - "Medicine", "Pediatrics", "Public Health", "Dentistry" and "Pharmacy". In addition, it trains health care specialists in 40 specialties at the levels of postgraduate education - training at the level of internship, clinical residency, primary specialization, master's degree, postgraduate studies, doctoral studies in specialty (PhD) and doctoral studies. In addition, the Postgraduate Education Center of the University organizes advanced training, professional retraining and initial training of doctors and teachers in all therapeutic procedures.

During his speech, rector of University d.m.s., professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali noted that according to the instructions and orders of the great Leader of the nation his excellency Emomali Rahmon and paragraph 27 of the "Action Plan for the implementation of the instructions and orders of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the nation respected Emomali Rahmon, outlined during the visit to the facilities of the Dushanbe city and participation in the knowledge Day- August 31 and September 1, 2022", since September 24, 2022, on the basis of the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan №219 dated May 29, 2023, the Institute of Fundamental Medicine has been established in the academic building of the University located on Rudaki Avenue-139, and the achievements of the University during this period have been evaluated.

It should be emphasized that today the number of students contains 12301 persons and, with postgraduate scientific and medical teachers (1242) the total number of university students is 13543, which increased by 2.1% compared to the same period of the previous academic year. The number of female students increased by 1.0% compared to the previous year and reached 5638 people. At the same time, the university has 1936 foreign professors from 23 countries, including 1918 people at the undergraduate level, 6 people at the scientific postgraduate level, 12 people at the medical postgraduate level from Canada, Finland, Great Britain, USA. The following countries are represented in the University: Saudi Arabia, Armenia, India, Turkmenistan, Russian Federation, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Islamic State of Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Nigeria, Latvia, Portugal and Abyssinia. Education at the University is conducted in three languages - Tajik, Russian and English.

During his speech, rector of the University d.m.s., professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali explained the issues of international cooperation of the University and noted that: "Based on the goals of international cooperation of the state and the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, establishing cooperation with international organizations, foreign embassies, foreign educational and research institutions is considered one of the priority directions in the activities of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University".

Today, the University cooperates with 79 foreign educational and scientific institutions on the basis of concluded agreements and contracts. During this period the University management concluded 1 additional bilateral agreement and 9 bilateral agreements with higher scientific and medical institutions of foreign countries, in particular, with universities of Turkey, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to the implementation of these agreements, the University regularly conducts academic exchange programs for students and teachers, summer schools and joint scientific and practical research.

Avicenna Tajik State Medical University has 7 dissertation councils, including one council 73.2.009.01 under the higher attestation Commission of the Russian Federation and 6 other councils under the higher attestation Commission under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan. During this period, 32 dissertations (3 doctoral and 29 candidate dissertations) were defended in these councils of the university. Also, university teachers defended 12 scientific dissertations (1 doctoral and 11 candidate dissertations) in non-university dissertation councils. In general, for the first half of 2023, the scientists of the university prepared 44 scientific personnel, including 4 doctors of sciences and 40 candidates of sciences, for the sphere of health care of the country. The university publishes 2 scientific-practical journals - "Avji Zuhal" in the state language, which is included in the register of the HAC of the Republic of Tajikistan, and scientific-practical journal "Avicenna Bulletin" in the Russian language, which is included in the register of the Russian Federation of educational sciences, published.

It’s point of note that the University's scientific and practical journal "Avicenna Bulletin" is the first scientific and practical journal in the field of medicine in the region, which June 28, 2023 was listed in "Scopus" - a global bibliographic database literature includes scientific research.

The University has 792 professors and lecturers, which 410 of them are women. Of the total number of professors and teachers of the University 352 people have academic degrees, including 1 academician, 4 full members of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and medical sciences, 80 doctors of sciences, professors, 267 candidates of sciences, associate professors. professors and 440 senior teachers and assistants, and the academic degree in the university is 44.4%.
