The Olympic Games in Paris are setting a visitor record, states Kazinform agency. According to Keith McConnell, the Sports Director of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), more than 8.8 million tickets have been sold for various events so far. "This is an incredible number, the largest for a sporting event in France," the official admitted.

The previous record belonged to the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta (USA), where a total of 8.3 million tickets were sold.

The Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 to August 11. Fourteen athletes will represent Tajikistan in the tournament.
