Obesity is one of the problems of modern time

Obesity is a disease that, unfortunately, is becoming more and more common. Obese people can be seen on the street, at work and even at home our loved ones are overweight. Obesity is a very insidious disease, it can begin to develop for reasons such as stress, improper lifestyle or hereditary predisposition. Obesity is necessarily joined by other diseases, such as, for example, diabetes, arterial hypertension, varicose veins, osteoarthritis, atherosclerosis. If obesity is not treated in time, people doom themselves to develop chronic diseases and even death.

Obesity can be caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, poor diet, little or no physical activity. Obesity can also be caused by everyday stressful situations and nervous disorders. The degree of obesity can be calculated using the body mass index (BMI). To determine it, divide your weight in kilograms by your height in meters squared. That is, if your height is 170 cm and your weight is 60 kg, the formula will be as follows: 60/(1.7*1.7)=20. If your ratio is within 18-25, then you have a normal weight. If your ratio is more than 25 but less than 30, then you are overweight. Obesity of the first degree is put if the resulting coefficient is within the limits of 30-35. From 35 to 40 is already degree obesity. And from 40 and more is degree obesity.

The symptoms of obesity and degree are accompanied by much more serious disorders of the functions of the entire body. In particular, manifest themselves violations of the respiratory, cardiovascular and digestive systems in it. When objectively examining patients, a change in heart tones, tachycardia and hypertension is determined. Against the background of altered state of the diaphragm dome on the background of obesity develops respiratory failure, in addition, a frequent companion of these degrees of obesity is a pulmonary heart.

The diagnosis of obesity can be made initially on the basis of the ideal body weight and BMI calculations discussed above. The degree of subcutaneous fat deposition is made on the basis of skinfold examination. The most accurate results on the volume, percentage and localization of adipose tissue can be obtained with the following auxiliary diagnostic measures: ultrasound, computed tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, X-ray densitometry, and so on. In addition, studies aimed at identifying concomitant changes provoked by obesity are prescribed on an individual basis.

It should be remembered that the treatment of obesity is not just a small course of treatment, but lifestyle changes for life. If you treat with medication and diet, combining everything with exercise, and then allow yourself to indulge, all your work will go to waste.

You must be treated under medical supervision, otherwise you may shorten your life expectancy with some improper treatments.

When choosing a diet for yourself, take into account your preferences, gender, age and state of mind - so that obesity treatment does not become a torment for you.

In addition, drug therapy may be prescribed, the selection of drugs is done on an individual basis. In the therapeutic diet is particularly focused on the "table number 8" with limiting the consumption of fats, proteins and carbohydrates to certain values and achieving a total caloric intake within a range of no more than 1800 kcal. In the appearance of symptoms indicating obesity, it is necessary to visit an endocrinologist, in addition may need to consult a psychotherapist and a nutritionist.
