UNIVERSITY PRESS CONFERENCE
Today, January 30, 2023, in SEI "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" was held a press conference with wide participation of mass media representatives. At the press conference, rector of the University, doctor of medical sciences, professor Gulzoda Mahmadshoh Qurbonali gave detailed information about the achievements in 2023 in the field of educational, scientific, therapeutic, educational, economic and administrative affairs. It was noted that the leadership and staff of professors and teachers of the SEI "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" in 2023 academic year with the understanding of responsibility in fulfillment of instructions and orders of the Founder of peace and national unity - Leader of the nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan his excellency Emomali Rahmon in connection with improving the level and quality of education and training of personnel in higher educational institutions of the country, as stated in his messages and speeches at the meetings, also in order to implement the resolutions and decrees of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, resolutions and orders of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of Population of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, the goals of the "Development Strategy of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University until 2025", decisions of the Council of scientists and University Administration executed effectively and a number of useful measures were implemented in the field of education and training, scientific research, medical work and strengthening the material and technical base of the University.
The university consists of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine, rector’s Service, 2 administrations, 12 departments, 8 sections, 12 centers, 5 faculties, 60 departments, including 35 clinical departments, 17 theoretical medical departments and 8 general education departments, 20 councils and 27 educational-scientific laboratories.
The University has 5 faculties - medical, pediatric, medical-preventive, stomatological and pharmaceutical, and 35 clinical departments of the University are located on the bases of 27 republican and city medical institutions of Dushanbe.
On the constructive initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Leader of the nation his excellency Emomali Rahmon and on the basis of the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan under №219 dated May 29, 2023, the Institute of Fundamental Medicine was established in the former educational and administrative building of the University, which is located on Rudaki Avenue 139.
The number of university students is 12,631, and including postgraduate scientific and medical students (1,426), the total number of University students is 14,057. Out of 12,631 students, 9,373 (74.2%) are studying at the medical faculty, 826 (6.5%) in pediatrics, 1491 (11.8%) in dentistry, 432 (3.4%) in pharmacy and 509 (4%) in preventive medicine were enrolled.
The number of professors and lecturers at the university is 889 people, of which 457 (51.8%) are women. Of the total number of faculty staff 404 people have academic degrees, including 2 academicians, 4 members of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, 88 doctors of sciences, professors, 310 candidates of sciences, associate professors, 485 senior teachers and assistants. with academic degrees in the university - 45.4%. The number of young teachers under the age of 35 increased by 2.1% during the reporting period and now numbers 300 (34%). The average age of faculty staff is 46 years.
It should be noted that the University has undergone international institutional accreditation, and all educational programs in the specialties of the university have undergone international accreditation and have international certificates.
In general, in 2023, notable achievements are observed in all spheres of the University's activities, and the management and staff of the University are trying to further improve effective and efficient activities. Avicenna Tajik State Medical University, preserving traditions and modernizing the educational process, fulfills its original mission to train health professionals and directly plays its worthy role in protecting the health of the nation.
