Targeted measures are being implemented in Tajikistan to prevent hepatitis. It is important to note that viral hepatitis is one of the most severe health issues globally, with the number of individuals affected by this disease rising worldwide.

During this meeting, medical specialists were instructed to adhere to preventive and sanitary measures while working with patients to prevent the spread of the hepatitis virus. Specifically, to protect both the doctor and other patients, every physician should use disposable gloves, masks, and tools.

According to medical specialists, jaundice is considered one of the infectious diseases, and it can affect individuals of various ages. The primary causes of this condition are viruses that damage the composition of human blood. Jaundice is more common in the summer and autumn.

How many types of hepatitis or jaundice are there?

It is important to note that viral hepatitis is classified into the following types: A, B, C, D, E, F, and G. Hepatitis A and E are severe infectious viral diseases transmitted orally, leading to liver and spleen damage, along with symptoms of liver toxicity and swelling. In our country, only five types (A, B, C, D, and E) are recognized.

Jaundice itself is not a dangerous condition but a symptom of a more serious illness or disease. It is classified into three types based on its cause and mechanism: hepatic (parenchymal) jaundice, mechanical jaundice, and hemolytic (hemorrhagic) jaundice. Hepatic jaundice results from damage to liver cells, disrupting the production and passage of bilirubin to the intestine.

According to doctors, hepatitis A has an incubation period of 15 to 30 days. The pre-jaundice phase typically lasts 5-7 days. During this period, body temperature may rise to 38-39°C and persist for 1-3 days. Symptoms include headache, nausea, fatigue, fever, and disturbed sleep. Additionally, there may be a bitter taste in the mouth, occasional vomiting, and a sensation of heaviness. Urine color changes after 2-4 days, becoming yellowish, while feces may turn colorless. Hepatitis E resembles hepatitis A but poses more severe risks for pregnant women. In such cases, pregnancy termination may be necessary as the fetus is at risk of contracting the disease.

How can hepatitis be prevented?

Fruits, including watermelon, vegetables, and dairy products, are effective remedies for jaundice. They stimulate appetite and enhance diuretic properties. Boiling water or corn silk tea can also help with liver swelling. Consuming carrot juice, a decoction of mint, and honey with saffron leaves can offer similar benefits.

This disease, caused by a virus, is contagious and can infect those around the patient. Therefore, the affected individual should be isolated from others and hospitalized
