Mother’s Day

Mother’s Day

Mother's Day is a wonderful and heart-warming holiday that reminds us that the most important person in the life of each of us is our mother. It is mom who gives the beginning of a new life. Mom surrounds us with kindness, tenderness and care. Mom leads kids along the long road of growing up, supporting them, guiding them on the right path and protecting them from troubles. Even when we become adults, we feel mother's love, we know that mom will always understand, forgive and love us no matter what. Therefore, Mother's Day is a great occasion to say "thank you" to our moms, to give them warm sincere words, to repeat again and again how much we love them.

International Women's Day was officially approved by the UN in 1977, but the history of the holiday begins in the spring of 1901. On March 8, American housewives broke the silence of Chicago streets with the clatter of empty pots and buckets. In this unusual way they demanded legal equality with men. In 1910, Clara Zetkin, a famous communist and reformer, proposed the establishment of the World Women's Solidarity Day. The main idea of the holiday was to defend the rights of female workers. The first two years the holiday was celebrated on different days of March, and since 1914, the women of several countries rallied in the fight for their rights on one day - March 8. Now the holiday has lost its original political coloring and turned into a flowery day of honoring beautiful ladies.

The eighth of March is a holiday for all women, but in Tajikistan it is proclaimed Mother's Day in order to honor the woman-mother, the educator of generations, mentor of youth, the stable support of the family. Traditionally, this day is celebrated for 10 years, and is a continuation of the ancient cult, as from ancient times there was a spring holiday dedicated to the cult of women.

In Tajikistan, March 8 Mother's Day has been celebrated since 2009 by a decree of President Emomali Rahmon. "The image of a mother has been and remains the embodiment of everything sacred and eternal for our nation for centuries," President of the Republic of Tajikistan His excellency Emomali Rahmon has repeatedly emphasized in his speeches.

The tradition of celebrating Mother's Day, according to some sources, dates back to the women's mysteries of ancient Rome, designed to honor the Great Mother - the goddess, the mother of all gods. It is also known that in England of the XV century celebrated the so-called Mothering Sunday - the fourth Sunday of Lent, dedicated to honoring mothers throughout the country. Gradually, this holiday took on a different meaning - it was not mothers who were honored, but "Mother Church," so the holiday became a church holiday.

Mom! Mommy - what a simple and wonderful word for each of us! The word "mom" is one of the oldest on Earth. How much warmth melts this magical word, which is called the dearest and the only person. The image of mother was sung by poets of all times and peoples. Poems and ballads were composed about her. V.G. Belinsky wrote: "There is nothing more sacred and selfless than the love of a mother; any attachment, any love, any passion or weak, or self-serving in comparison with it".
