MEETING OF THE STUDENT SCIENTIFIC SOCIETY AT THE DEPARTMENT OF PROPAEDEUTICS OF CHILDREN'S DISEASES

On May 16, 2025, the Department of propaedeutics of children's diseases at the State Educational Institution «Avicena Tajik State Medical University» held another meeting of the Student Scientific Society under the guidance of c.m.s., associate professor G.A. Rakhmanova and the department assistant A.A. Ghiyosov. The topic of the meeting was: “Peculiarities of the skin and subcutaneous fat in children”. A member of the student scientific circle, Bobozoda M., a 3rd-year medical faculty student of group 46, prepared a presentation on this topic, in which key issues related to the features of the skin and subcutaneous fat in children were highlighted. The presentation included slides and a video related to the topic. Particular attention was paid to the structure of the skin and subcutaneous fat depending on the child’s age, as well as their functional characteristics. In this context, changes in the skin and subcutaneous tissue due to various pathological processes were emphasized, along with diagnostic methods aimed at appropriate treatment and timely prevention.

The skin is a complex organ and serves as the external covering of the human body, performing protective and physiological functions. It plays a significant role in a child’s health and well-being. The skin is closely linked physiologically with the function of individual organs and the body as a whole; thus, it reflects pathological changes occurring in the body. A thorough examination and adequate assessment of the skin condition are of great importance in diagnosing diseases in children.

A child's skin differs in structure from that of an adult. Firstly, it makes up 1/12 of the total body mass, which is only surpassed by the striated muscular and skeletal systems. When interacting with the external environment, the skin is the first line of defense against harmful effects. Therefore, any skin damage poses a significant threat to a child.

At the end of the presentation, the student society members asked questions on various clinical symptoms characteristic of the pathological changes discussed, as well as on differential diagnosis with similar diseases. An active discussion followed.
