This spring began with an important international conference co-chaired by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan and the King of the Netherlands. Therefore, on March 21-24, the attention of the world, especially scholars and political scientists in our republic and abroad, was riveted to the UN headquarters in New York, United States of America.

On the occasion of the International Day of Navruz - March 21-24, 2023 in New York City, United States of America, in light of the great international initiatives of the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the leader of the Tajiks of the world in 2018-2028, the UN Conference on the Comprehensive Mid-Term Review of the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development" took place.

It is in these sensitive and tense moments for today's human civilization that the Founder of peace and national unity - the Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, his excellency Emomali Rahmon said the following words at the closing ceremony of the UN -2023 Water Conference: “Let’s unite around water!”

The President of Tajikistan emphasized at the rostrum of the UN that "it is the great power of water that unites the continents, countries and different cultures of the world".

These words of the Leader of the Tajik nation of the world have great and deep philosophical and political meaning, because every person and every nation dreams of a deserving and happy life. Due to the rapid development of the world economy around the world, the use of water resources, especially fresh water, in industry and agriculture has increased. But the sources of fresh water in the world are also limited. In this regard, the President of Tajikistan stated in an interview with the UN TV channel that "there is no country in the world that does not depend on water problems. This problem is observed in various spheres of life of people of the world. In some countries, people suffer from a lack of water for drinking, cleaning, sanitation, and other needs. On the other hand, many natural disasters such as droughts, floods and avalanches cause great damage to the economy and people's lives. Therefore, I believe that in all these issues, both at the national, regional, and global levels, reliable modern mechanisms of water supply and effective management of related issues should be developed and implemented".

As a logical continuation of a series of initiatives of Tajikistan related to water resources in 2022, the UN General Assembly on the basis of another initiative of the Leader of the Nation the respected Emomali Rahmon adopted a corresponding resolution to declare 2025 the International Year of Water. Protection of glaciers, as glaciers are the main source of fresh water on Earth.

It is necessary to emphasize that during the UN-2023 Water Conference and in his interview to the UN TV correspondent, the Head of State stated that "glaciers are the main source of fresh water on our planet".

The peoples of the world were once again introduced to the image of the civilized and cultural Tajik people. The Tajiks are the state-forming nation of our region, because only a state-forming nation has the power of civilization. It is for this reason that the President of Tajikistan, at the UN Water Conference in New York, was presented a valuable gift - Crown by the United Nations, which goes back to the beginning of the formation of the Tajik people - the beginning of Kushan statehood and is associated with the ethnic name "Tajik".

It is also a pride to hold the event "Water and Navruz - two sources of human life" on the margins of the UN Water Conference 2023 with the participation of the distinguished President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. Speaking at the event, the leader of the Tajik nation noted that "I am confident that the Member States of the United Nations, based on the creative traditions and immutable values of Navruz, will use fresh energy and constructive plans to implement the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development" and other global water-related goals, make efforts and increase cooperation for the rational use of water resources, other natural resources and environmental protection".

Another positive outcome is that all proposed commitments by UN member states have been incorporated into the Water Agenda, and the Water Agenda is to be presented at three upcoming key UN meetings, the Sustainable Development Goals Summit 2023 , the Future Summit - 2024 and the World Social Summit - 2025 and through the annual high-level political forums on the Sustainable Development Goals, stakeholder conferences on climate, biodiversity, and other UN processes and, of course, the Dushanbe Water Process.

Thus, by organizing and hosting the UN Conference on the Comprehensive Mid-Term Review of the International Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, the Republic of Tajikistan has proved its valuable contribution to sustainable development and peace and stability in the modern world, which will further contribute to the solution of human problems.
