The Republic of Tajikistan has achieved a number of successes in combating tropical diseases, including malaria (fever, malaria). As part of the implementation of national programs and strategic plans for the prevention and control of malaria, no local cases of malaria have been registered in the republic since 2015.

This indicator allowed the Republic of Tajikistan to prepare the necessary documents, as well as the "National report on elimination of malaria in the Republic of Tajikistan" in the amount of 148 pages according to the requirements of the World Health Organization to achieve "Malaria Free Country Certificate" and submit it to the World Health Organization.

In connection with this issue, the International Commission consisting of the delegation of WHO experts, Professors Pedro Alonso (Spain), Fred Bink (Ghana) and the representative of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, Xiao Hong Li (China) visited Tajikistan from 17 to 26 October 2022.

The International Commission consists of the State Institution "Republican Center for Tropical Diseases Control", Tajik State Medical University named after Abu Ali ibn Sino, State Educational Institution "Postgraduate Medical Education University of the Republic of Tajikistan", Municipal Clinical Hospital of Dushanbe", as well as from centers for tropical diseases control and related treatment and preventive institutions in Kulyab, Darvaz, Shahin, Vakhdat and Vose district MSE visited, were familiarized with the required information.

As a result of inspection and evaluation of this commission, the WHO Director General was presented a certificate. On March 24 this year, the World Health Organization awarded the Republic of Tajikistan with the certificate of "Malaria Free Country" based on the submitted report on the work done to eradicate local malaria in the Republic of Tajikistan.

Thus, the Republic of Tajikistan is on the list of 42 malaria-free countries.
