“Extremism, in the literal sense, is nothing but - extreme - it is a commitment to extreme views and measures. An extreme manifestation of something - actions, statements, attitudes, etc. Extremism - causing harm to a person on national, religious, political or social grounds, political activity, aimed ultimately at changing the state system, destruction of state integrity, separation of any people, nation or population group”.

Extremism is an organized force that exploits fears and unites people excited by these fears and hatred into various kinds of cells and groups. Extremists oppose established state and social institutions, seeking to undermine, change or destroy them in order to achieve their goals. At present, extremism and terrorism are a real threat to the national security not only of our country, but also of the whole world. Extremism is an exceptionally great danger that can shake up any society, even the most stable and prosperous one. Recent years are characterized by a growing trend of spreading various types of extremism, formation of stable hotbeds of extremist threat in regions with complex socio-political, economic and military situation. For this purpose bright slogans, organized riots, strikes, civil disobedience, methods of guerrilla warfare, as well as terrorist acts, etc. are used. Extremism and terrorism are destructive social forces that negatively affect the consciousness of their adherents and interfere with the normal life activities of other people.

Types of extremism: ethno-national, political, youth, religious, migration.

Youth extremism is a three-level system:

1.Organizational, which implies formal and informal membership in extremist organizations and movements

2.Mental, represented by extremist political culture, as well as destructive actions of mass communication media. 2.

3.Behavioral, in which specific extremist actions and deeds are manifested.

The objective side of extremist crimes is characterized by the following actions aimed at:

1) to incite hatred or enmity;

2) humiliation of the dignity of a person or a group of persons on the grounds of gender, race, nationality, language, origin, attitude to religion, membership of a social group.

Terrorist act - committing an explosion, arson or other actions related to intimidation of the population and creating a danger of human death, significant property damage or the occurrence of an ecological disaster or other grave consequences, for the purpose of unlawful influence on decision-making by public authorities, local self-government bodies or international organizations, as well as the threat of committing these actions for the same purposes.

Types of terrorism

Religious terrorism - manifests itself in extreme intolerance and violence, including armed violence, between representatives of different religious views and faiths.

Political terrorism - opposes the socio-political system of the state as a whole or certain aspects of its activities or specific political personalities and government officials undesirable to terrorists.

Criminal terrorism - is carried out by criminal elements or criminal groups with the purpose of achieving certain concessions from the authorities, intimidate the authorities and the population with the help of methods of violence and intimidation borrowed from practically terrorist organizations.

The prevention of extremism and terrorism is not only the task of the state, but also the task of representatives of civil society. Special attention should be paid to the family and school, because it is no secret that social and material insecurity, frequent extremes in assessments and judgments, psychological immaturity and significant dependence on other people's opinions make it easy to spread radical ideas among young people.

We will join hands with other nations to fight the threat of terrorism!
