EXTREMISM AND TERRORISM ARE PLAGUE OF THE CENTURY

Date 24.02.2023 at the department of pathological physiology of the Avicenna Tajik State Medical University with the participation of the head of the department c.m.s., associate professor Toshtemirova Z.M., teachers and students of the department of pediatrics, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan held a meeting on "Extremism and terrorism – the plague of the century". At the meeting, the assistant of the department Shukurov F.A. spoke and pointed out the issues of destructive phenomena of terrorism and extremism, in particular stressed: “Terrorism and extremism are concepts that have become common in the modern world and these two concepts are linked”.

From the legal point of view, terrorism is committing acts, which create danger of death, use them for physical purposes, eliminate political opponents, violate public security, intimidate population or influence decision-making of authorities.

Scholars and researchers have identified different types of terrorism and extremism, such as political, religious, environmental, anti-globalization, cultural, moral, nationalistic, criminal, technological, biological, cyber, etc. Religion has caused problems in the modern world. According to most political scientists, extremism is more rooted in religion, which is attractive and can be seen in all corners of the planet, because in many cases it seems that extremists act under religious slogans and speak on behalf of religion, and they call their orders as religious orders. This, in the first place, is aimed at insulting the religious consciousness of the people and has nothing to do with religious values and its commandments. Thus, this action of extremists shows their godlessness and betrayal. In this regard, the Founder of Peace and national unity - the Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the respected Emomali Rahmon has repeatedly expressed his opinion against it from the tribunes of the UN and influential international organizations.

Today's terrorism has taken on a more religious connotation. Terrorists, unfortunately, operate under a religious covenant and in connection with religious principles. According to accurate analysis and statistics, in 1995 half of international terrorists were religious fanatics. Experience with terrorism has shown that the most dangerous type of terrorism is religious terrorism.
