In accordance with the Law of the Republic of Tajikistan “On Holidays” dated January 2, 2018, No. 1480, the 1-st October was officially included in the list of holidays celebrated in the Republic of Tajikistan as the Day of the Elderly.

The celebration of the Day of the Elderly - October 1 throughout the country, especially in organizations and institutions in the field of healthcare and social protection of the population, is of particular importance, as it allows attracting public attention to solving the socio-economic problems of the elderly.

On September 29, the teachers of the Department Radiology: Nuritdinov J.A., Nazhmuddinov Kh.H. and students of the 4th year of the Medical Faculty congratulated the 87-year-old veteran of labor, radiologist of the Department of Radiology of the State Medical University “MZHIS” Sharabaeva Irina Ivanovna on the “Day of the Elderly”. Irina Ivanovna expressed her joy at meeting with colleagues and students, noting that she is happy to be informed about the innovations and developments of the Medical University.

Irina Ivanovna wished her colleagues, students and the younger generation good health and success in their chosen profession. She expressed her gratitude to the university administration and the Republican Scientific Cancer Center for their information and attention to veterans, and wished them success and achievements.

The Leader of the Nation, Emomali Rahmon, constantly shows concern for the elderly, lonely people. In one of his speeches on this subject, he emphasized that “the elderly, who have lived and endured the hardships of life, are our state. We are all obliged to take care of them as best we can. We should not forget that, along with helping and caring for the disabled, the elderly, and poor families, we are teaching the lessons of compassion, humanity, and appreciation to adolescents, young people, and future generations of the nation.”
