In the period of state Independence, the Tajik people under the leadership of the Founder of peace and national unity - Leader of the nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan his Excellency Emomali Rahmon, using his great mind and eternal wisdom, have gained valuable achievements. State Independence and political stability allowed laying the foundation for the formation of civil society in our country based on the use of national, state and universal values, creating a favorable basis for improving the level and quality of life of the people, the health of the nation, the prosperity of the Motherland and a bright future of independent Tajikistan. This is a reason to be proud of the fact that during the years of independence many state programs have been implemented to reform the health care sector, improve public health and prevent various diseases.

The health care is one of the priority areas of social policy of the Republic of Tajikistan, it has been steadily developing during the period of state independence and has made significant progress to date. Since the first years of independence, the highest leadership of the country and the Government of the country have implemented all necessary measures to develop the health sector and social protection of the population, regulate the activities of the sector and strengthen the material and technical base of this priority area and at the present stage is being strengthened. The progress and successes of the health sector have been achieved thanks to the wise and far-sighted policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan his Excellency Emomali Rahmon. During the period of independence Dear Head of State Emomali Rahmon held more than 34 meetings with medical workers of the country in the centers of regions, cities and districts, discussed issues and problems of this sphere, solved issues related to health care. They gave specific instructions and assignments to officials, maternal and child health, law and justice, social problems of citizens and other existing problems, and in this context a serious impetus was given to reform and modernization of the sector. The same measures, construction and modernization of health care facilities, equipping with modern technologies, training and attracting knowledgeable specialists contributed to the development and strengthening of the country's health care system, ensuring the health of the population.

The main indicators of the industry contributed to the improvement of the health of the population, as a result, the average life expectancy of citizens reached 75 years. In 1990, this indicator was equal to 70 years. By the way, it is important to emphasize that at this time, significant work was carried out to improve favorable conditions for the diagnosis and treatment of citizens, and the number of health care institutions in the country increased significantly. During this period, the construction and commissioning of hundreds of beautiful and modern health care facilities is a testament to the development of health care in the country. If before 1991 there were only 2862 health care facilities in the Republic of Tajikistan, at the time of independence this number reached 5116.
