UN general - secretary António Guterres: “Life expectancy in the world has increased by more than 50 percent”

Since the establishment of the World Health Organization, which is 75 years old, health has improved considerably, life expectancy worldwide has increased by more than 50 percent, infant mortality has decreased by 60 percent, and measles has been eliminated. This was stated by UN Secretary General António Guterres at the 76th session of the World Health Organization, held in Geneva, Switzerland. It was reported by AMIT Khovar with reference to the press center of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The Minister of health and social protection of population of the Republic of Tajikistan Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, general director of the World Health Organization Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, the ministers of health of the member states of this organization took part in the meeting.

It should be said that the main purpose of holding the 76th session of the World Health Assembly is to unite the efforts of member states for the development of the health sector, prevention and control of communicable diseases, reduction of non-communicable diseases, which is one of the highest mortality rates in our time, and the organization reports to the member states.

At the same time, within the framework of development of interstate cooperation in order to discuss the "road map" between the Central Asian states in the field of health, the Ministers of Health of the Republics of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan met in Geneva, Switzerland on May 22 this year.

During the meeting, the issues of cooperation in strengthening maternal and child health services, training medical personnel by sharing experiences and conducting joint research, as well as coverage of the population with quality health services were discussed and debated.
