COUNTERACTING TERRORISM AND EXTREMISM IS THE DUTY OF EVERY CITIZEN

World’s recent events show that terrorism, extremism and separatism are spreading on the planet, becoming the main danger and worrying the world community. The range of activities of terrorist organizations is expanding, they are implementing nefarious goals in a number of countries and complicating the situation. The growth of extremist and terrorist crimes contributes to the expansion of international terrorism, the activation of extremist elements, the involvement of ignorant young people in the ranks of extremist and terrorist organizations and their participation in armed and organized conflicts in foreign countries. One of the phenomena threatening post-Soviet societies is the development of radicalism among young people. This term refers to intolerance, non-recognition of truth and social laws, and fanaticism. Of course, radicalism is a new phenomenon, according to sociologists, it takes root in countries in transition.

The word radicalism comes from the Latin word "radix" and means "root". Radicalism as a term is a set of ideas of socio-political movements whose aim is to change and overthrow the political and social institutions of society. Radicals believe it is right to make immediate and radical changes, even by force. In common understanding, the word radicalism means a statement of decisive action and avoidance. According to sociologists, radicalism is the first stage in the development of extremism, which is extremism. Extremism comes from the French word "ektremisme" and Latin "echtremus" and its original meaning is extremism, extremism, extreme thoughts and actions taken to extremes. An extremist is a person who is a supporter of extreme actions in his activities. This phenomenon can be reflected in all spheres of human activity - religion, politics, ideology, science and even sports.

The development of extremism eventually leads to terrorism. The term "terrorism" comes from the Latin word "terror" and means "fear and panic". Terrorists want to achieve their goals through violence, murder and fear. In the interpretation of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan, the explanation of its purpose is as follows: “The main purpose of terrorism is to disturb public security, intimidate people, panic and frighten the population and through this pressure on state bodies. Such movements are the ultimate goal of criminals to force public authorities to make an illegal decision that meets their interests or to destroy the reputation and position of public authorities”.
