Corruption is an obstacle to the state development

On December 15, at the department of dermatovenerology a seminar was held among residents and interns on the topic: "Corruption is an obstacle to the development of the state". Speakers reported that on December 9, 2003 in the city of Merida (Mexico) at the political conference of the highest level the signing ceremony of the "UN Convention against Corruption" took place. The Convention was adopted by most countries of the world, including Tajikistan. Tajikistan, as an active participant in the global process of combating corruption, signed the Convention on September 25, 2006 and approved it on April 16, 2008. This international treaty provides for measures to prevent and punish corruption, as well as mechanisms for international cooperation in combating it. It obliges States to pursue anti-corruption policies, approve relevant laws and establish special bodies to combat this phenomenon.

Corruption takes place not only in developed countries but also in developing countries. Every state is fighting this negative phenomenon, known since ancient times. But until every member of society realizes how much corruption drags it back, lowers the prestige of the state, undermines its authority, it is impossible to eradicate it. By and large, corruption can be considered an organized economic crime. In order to implement the requirements of Article 6 of the UN Convention against Corruption, which deals with the issue of establishing bodies to prevent and combat corruption on the part of state parties, the Agency for State Financial Control and Anti-Corruption of the Republic of Tajikistan was established by the Decree of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan dated January 10, 2007.

Currently, the Decree "The State Strategy for Combating Corruption in the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 and the Action Plan for its implementation for the first phase (2021-2025)" has been adopted.

The Leader of the nation, Honorable Emomali Rahmon, in his Address to Majlisi Oli on December 26, 2019, emphasized: "Corruption is one of the serious obstacles to the sustainable development of the country and can lead to a decline in the authority and image of the state in the international arena and dissatisfaction of citizens with the activities of state structures and bodies." Today Tajikistan is a member of the Anti-Corruption Network of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development,

The so-called "Shadow Economy" has a detrimental effect on the faith in honesty of ordinary law-abiding citizens. It can only be countered by a collective understanding of this burning problem.
