CLINICAL CONFERENCE ON "ALBUMIN-FREE EDEMAS IN CHILDREN"

January 11, 2024 at the department of propaedeutics of children's diseases of the State Educational Institution "Avicenna Tajik State Medical University" the clinical conference on the theme: "Protein-free edema in children" was held by the staff of the department together with doctors of the 7th children's somatic corps of the State Institution "Medical complex Istiqlol".

Protein-free (hypoproteinemic) edema develops when the concentration of blood plasma proteins decreases below 55 g / L. Of particular importance is the content of albumin (30 g / L), which has a much higher oncotic activity than globulins. In the clinical picture of protein-free edema are predominant: decrease or increase in body weight, violation of proportionality of the physique, changes in the skin in the form of decreased elasticity, dryness, peeling, pallor, as well as manifestations of symptoms of hypovitaminosis. There are also changes in the CNS, such as tearfulness, irritability or lethargy, apathy, sleep disturbance, delayed physical and psychomotor development, disorder of thermoregulation.

The main principle of treatment is dietary therapy, along with which medication is also used. The prognosis of the disease with timely diagnosis and correctly selected treatment tactics is favorable.

Preventive measures should be aimed at nutrition with calculation of the caloric content of the diet received, compliance with the rules of personal hygiene, and in the case of intestinal infections - timely seeking medical help.

The presentation was prepared by a resident physician of the department of low birth weight children, a part-time faculty member Nagzibekova D.D., who detailed the features of etiopathogenesis, clinical manifestations of protein-free edema in children with the demonstration of a clinical case from his own practice, methods of diagnosis, treatment, as well as differential-diagnostic criteria of edema.

In conclusion, a discussion was held, a number of questions were asked regarding diet therapy and treatment of protein-free edema in children.
