Chairman of Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the City of Dushanbe respected Rustami Emomali met with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi, reports NIAT "Khovar" with reference to Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Chairman of the City of Dushanbe, Honorable Rustami Emomali conveyed to the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Honorable Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi, the warm and sincere greetings of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Honorable Emomali Rahmon.

The meeting discussed a wide range of important and priority issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Iran, including in the field of inter-parliamentary ties.

It was noted with satisfaction that at present bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Iran are systematically developing in various spheres of mutual interest, and constant meetings and high-level contacts play a significant role in the effective advancement of this process.

The sides emphasized the importance of the activities of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation in expanding economic ties.

Taking into account the steady growth of trade turnover between Tajikistan and Iran, as well as bringing this indicator up to 500 million dollars, during the talks special attention was paid to expanding cooperation and implementation of investment projects in promising areas of energy, transport, machine building, food, mining, pharmaceuticals and processing of agricultural products.

In order to strengthen cultural ties, the expansion of cooperation in higher education, research and technology, the exchange of experience between health professionals, direct links between the scientific medical institutions of the two States and the continuation of the tradition of organizing cultural days were considered important.

In the course of the talk, the sides exchanged views on the issues of cooperation between the two states in the international and interregional arena, including the situation in Afghanistan and Palestine.
