CELEBRATION OF THE NEW YEAR AT THE DEPARTMENT OF

In 46 B.C., the Roman general and high priest Gaius Julius Caesar introduced his new calendar and finally approved the beginning of the year on January 1, 45 B.C. It was in Caesar's time, under the influence of astrology, that the New Year celebration took on an independent meaning as a sign of the beginning of the year. Many countries celebrate the New Year on January 1, the first day of the year according to the Gregorian calendar. In Tajikistan, New Year's Day was first celebrated at the beginning of the last century, in 1935 to be exact. Then the holiday was prepared for the capital of our republic, which at that time was called Stalinabad. For the first time in the country in stores and markets were on sale Christmas toys and Christmas trees, and for children were brought sweet gifts, fruit and drinks. New Year's Eve balls, masquerades and concerts were also held across the country. One of the main attributes of the holiday is the Christmas tree. This year, the height of the main tree in honor of the 31st anniversary of independence was 31 meters. Another symbol of the New Year - Santa Claus and the Snow Maiden, in Tajikistan these characters are called Santa Claus and Barfak. Getting a gift from their hands is a cherished dream of every child. Holiday mood in the republic is felt even a few weeks before the holiday. Since then, a new holiday appeared in the calendar of the Tajik people, which is celebrated with a flourish to this day.
