According to the World Bank and Corruption Transparency International's definition, it is the abuse of government orders for personal interests.

Al-Munjad Culture says corruption comes from the infinitive of bribe, meaning "to bribe."

Corruption is a dangerous economic and legal phenomenon whose destructive impact on the economic, political and social system of society cannot be overemphasized.

During the era of the Qojariya and Pahlavi government, corruption was common in Iran, to the point that cases of it occurred in international relations as well. Also, D. Comte in his travel notes titled "Three Years in Iran" writes that corruption is considered one of the evils rooted in Iran, which cannot be eradicated because it involves everyone from the Shah to the last official.
