Antonio Guterres believes that Tajikistan has made considerable strides in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals

"Tajikistan has made significant progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in healthcare and electricity sectors. Respect for human rights is also, a crucial foundation for peace, security, and development," stated UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, during a press conference for journalists following his meeting with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, his excellency Emomali Rahmon, on July 5.

According to the United Nations Secretary-General, the ratification of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the adoption of the National Human Rights Strategy represent significant progress for Tajikistan.

"I support Tajikistan's chairmanship of the Central Asia Women Leaders Forum in 2025 and its efforts to promote gender equality and protect the rights of all women and girls in the country and across the region. Overall, I urge countries throughout the region to continue engaging with UN human rights mechanisms and recommendations, and to ensure the protection of rights for all groups and the representation of all voices," added the United Nations Secretary-General.
