100 years to Professor - dermatovenerologist Rakhmatov Barat Rakhmatovich

December 31, 1923 was born an outstanding scientist dermatovenerologist Professor Barat Rakhmatovich Rakhmatov, who from 1960 to 1978 headed the Department of Dermatovenerology of the Tajik State Medical University named after Abuali ibni Sino. For 18 years of chairing the department, Professor Rakhmatov B.R. trained a large cadre of Tajik dermatologists (Riskhiev I.R., Kiyamov F.A., Lapushkina T.P., Isaeva E.T., Zoirov P.T., Isaeva M.S., Nesterenko B.A., Usmonov F.I., Usmanova H.D., Kasymov O.I.). He established the dermatovenerology service, opened many inpatient departments and fungal hospitals throughout the country and was the chief dermatovenerologist of the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan for many years.

Barat Rakhmatovich Rakhmatov was born in the city of Samarkand into a family of clergymen. His father taught theology in one of the madrasas. After the death of his mother and the arrest of his father, Barat Rakhmatovich and his younger brother were placed in an orphanage in Turkmenistan, and two years later they settled in the house of their aunt in the city of Samarkand. In 1940 he entered the Samarkand Medical Institute, and after graduation he was sent to the Tashkent Medical Institute for internship in the department of skin and venereal diseases. In 1947 Rakhmatov B.R. moved to Tajikistan, where many years of his activity allowed him to create the Tajik school of dermatovenerology. Work as a practical doctor in the city skin and venereological dispensary and inexorable craving for science, led to the fulfillment of a PhD thesis on the problems of skin tuberculosis, which in these postwar years was very much in the republic. In 1953, Rakhmatov B.R. defended his PhD thesis on "Incidence of skin tuberculosis in Tajikistan and direct effectiveness of tissue D-vitamin therapy of skin tuberculosis". To work on his doctoral thesis Rakhmatov B.R. was sent to Moscow, where he studied with such famous later scientists as Hamid Huseinovich Mansurov, Azam Tairovich Pulatov, Sajdinisso Khafizovna Khakimova, who predetermined the further development of public health care of the Republic. In 1959, Rakhmatov B.R. in Moscow under the guidance of Professor Kartamyshev A.I. and the famous hematologist, Professor Kassirsky L.A. defended his doctoral thesis on bone marrow hematopoiesis in patients with syphilis in the process of penicillin therapy. The activity of Professor B.R. Rakhmatov took place in the period when the medical institute became multidisciplinary, as in addition to the medical faculty, pediatric, stomatological faculties, faculty of advanced training of doctors and subordination were organized. Accordingly, the staff of the department expanded, but the pedagogical staff was low. Therefore, an important task of the department in this period was the training of teachers with academic degrees, in particular, were enrolled in clinical residency Isayeva Elena Tadzhiddinovna. (1964), Zoirov Podabon Toshmatovich (1965), Isayeva Mavjuda Sirodzhiddinovna (1970), who under the guidance of Professor Rakhmatov B.R. defended their Candidate's theses in 1970, 1971 and 1974, respectively.

All this served as a basis for awarding Professor Rakhmatov B.R. the honorary title "Honored Worker of Tajikistan". In 1979 Prof. Rakhmatov B.R. moved to the city of Tashkent, where he continued his activity as deputy director on science of Uzbek NIKVI of the Ministry of Health of RUz, where he was also engaged in scientific developments in the field of mycology, syphilidology and skin dyschromias, and the last direction would later become the most promising in the republic for many years. Prof. Rakhmatov B.R. has published dozens of monographs and hundreds of scientific articles in various areas of dermatovenerology. Prof. Rakhmatov B.R. saw the fruits of his professional activity in Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, where he trained numerous scientists, specialists and just doctors with dedication to give their professional knowledge for the benefit of the development of dermatovenerology science
