PARTICIPATION OF THE STAFF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PROPAEDEUTICS OF CHILDREN DISEASES IN THE STRATEGIC WORKSHOP ON DEVELOPING THE NATIONAL NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN FOR 2026–2030.

           PARTICIPATION OF THE STAFF OF THE DEPARTMENT OF PROPAEDEUTICS OF CHILDREN DISEASES IN THE STRATEGIC WORKSHOP ON DEVELOPING THE NATIONAL NUTRITION PROGRAM FOR THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN FOR 2026–2030.

On October 30, 2025, the assistants of the Department of propaedeutics of children diseases of the SEI “Avicenna Tajik State Medical University” - Murodov G.Z. and Razokova K.R. - took part in the Strategic working seminar on the development of the National Nutrition Program for the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026–2030, organized by the Ministry of health and social protection of the population of the Republic of Tajikistan in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF).

The purpose of the event was to discuss the goals, objectives, and key directions of the new National Nutrition Program for 2026–2030.

Main Goals of the National Nutrition Program:

  • to improve the nutritional status of women, children, and other vulnerable groups of the population of Tajikistan by 2030 through coordinated intersectoral actions;
  • to achieve an optimal level of nutrition for the entire population of Tajikistan by 2030, with special attention to children under 5 years of age, adolescents, as well as pregnant and lactating women;
  • to strengthen food security and improve nutrition indicators across the population by 2030, prioritizing vulnerable and hard-to-reach groups;
  • to reduce all forms of malnutrition in Tajikistan by 2030 through integrated efforts in the areas of healthcare, agriculture, education, and social protection.

Strategic Objectives:

  • create an enabling environment for nutrition through legislation, financing, and intersectoral coordination;
  • improve access to and scale up the delivery of quality, nutrition-specific services and interventions;
  • increase the availability, accessibility, and affordability of foods rich in nutrients;
  • improve dietary quality and feeding practices through behavior change and community engagement;
  • establish a sustainable, integrated system for monitoring, evaluation, and accountability based on a reliable information and research base in the field of nutrition.

Workshop Activities. During the seminar, participants were divided into working groups to develop in detail the following aspects:

  • defining the strategic goals and objectives of the program;
  • discussing proposals for activities under each strategic objective;
  • formulating target indicators and benchmarks;
  • allocating responsibilities and identifying responsible institutions for implementing the planned activities.

Each group presented the results of its work and proposed solutions.
The results of the discussions were summarized by the seminar moderators. In the final part of the workshop, the next steps for the preparation and implementation of the program were determined. Participation in this event made it possible to contribute to the development of national nutrition policy and to strengthen interagency cooperation in this vital area.
