TAJIKISTAN'S ROLE IN THE ORGANIZATION OF ISLAMIC COOPERATION: ACHIEVEMENTS AND DIRECTIONS
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is an international organization that unites Muslim-majority countries and works to strengthen political, economic, social, and cultural cooperation among them. Tajikistan joined the OIC in 1992, and since then has maintained diverse forms of cooperation with the organization.
Tajikistan's relationship with the OIC can be seen as an example of a forward-looking and strategic foreign policy, through which the country advances its national interests in the political, cultural, economic, and security spheres by leveraging the opportunities provided by the organization.
As a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Tajikistan consistently advocates for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and the restoration of peace and political stability during the organization’s sessions. With a forward-looking vision, the Leader of the Nation and President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, last year reaffirmed Tajikistan’s international stance from the high rostrum of the United Nations, stating: "Tajikistan has always supported the resolution of all conflicts and disputes solely through political and diplomatic means."
Tajikistan’s firm position in this regard was clearly demonstrated on September 15 of this year, during an extraordinary session of Arab leaders and OIC member states, where the Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, strongly condemned Israel’s acts of aggression against the territories of Middle Eastern countries, stating: "Once again, we firmly condemn this act of aggression, which is a blatant and gross violation of international law and the fundamental principles of the Charter of the United Nations."
Since the beginning of its membership in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Tajikistan has consistently sought to strengthen political, economic, cultural, and security cooperation with Muslim-majority countries. Through constructive proposals in areas such as counterterrorism, environmental protection, peace and stability promotion, and fostering economic integration, Tajikistan makes a significant contribution within the organization.
The Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon, has repeatedly emphasized in his speeches the need to enhance unity among Islamic countries, safeguard cultural values, and eradicate extremism.
Today, Tajikistan is recognized within the OIC as an active, culturally rich, and initiative-driven country.
