HOLI IS ONE OF THE OLDEST AND MOST FAMOUS FESTIVALS OF THE PEOPLE OF INDIA

Holi is one of the oldest and most famous festivals of the people of India. It is usually celebrated in March, with the arrival of spring and the end of winter. Holi symbolizes the renewal of nature, the beginning of new life, the victory of good over evil, as well as friendship and mutual understanding. The origin of the festival is connected with ancient Hindu legends. One of the most well-known stories is about Holika and Prahlad, which represents the triumph of faith and truth over evil and tyranny. In memory of this event, the ritual called “Holika Dahan” is performed on the eve of the festival. People light bonfires that symbolize the destruction of evil, the purification of the soul and thoughts, and the start of a new stage in life.

The main day of the celebration is known as “Rangwali Holi.” On this day, people go out into the streets, throw bright colored powders (gulal) at each other, splash water, dance, and sing. Bright colors — red, yellow, green, and blue — symbolize joy, love, hope, and new beginnings.

Holi is a festival of colors and happiness, friendship and equality, forgiveness and unity. It shows that the culture of India is rich and diverse, preserving ancient traditions to this day. This festival carries a message of peace, love, and mutual understanding to the whole world.
